The Detroit Lions will host defensive tackle Justin Bannan for a visit on Monday, according to Mike Klis of the Denver Post.

Bannan, an 11-year veteran, has played for four teams during his career, starting 45 games over the past three seasons for the Denver Broncos and St. Louis Rams. He tallied 42 tackles and a forced fumble for the Broncos in 2012.

Football analytics website Pro Football Focus also graded Bannan as one of the top defensive tackles against the run last season.

The Lions have an open spot on the roster, created when the team released running back Jahvid Best last week.

Detroit could still use depth at defensive tackle. The top three spots are locked down between starters Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley, along with top backup C.J. Mosley. The fourth job will be decided in training camp.

Additionally, the Lions signed Jason Jones and Israel Idonije this offseason. The pair are slated to be defensive ends in Detroit’s scheme, but both have experience playing inside and could see time in those roles in specific defensive packages.
